This year ICT Cluster Burgas had the pleasure of hosting an exceptional event - the conference "Clusters Meet Regions", organized in cooperation with the European Commission and other key partners. The event brought together experts, business leaders, academic representatives and political figures from different countries to discuss opportunities for sustainable development and innovation in the ICT sector. The conference provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and practices, with a particular focus on green transformation and the circular economy.

 

The first day of the conference was filled with energy and inspiration. The opening session, moderated by Petko Georgiev, chairman of ICT Cluster Burgas, presented the project "Initiative for greener ICT ” - ICT Greening Up. The presentations of the panelists Reneta Koleva, Deputy. - Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Water and Natalia Miteva, Deputy Minister of Education and Science were extremely interesting and informative, and our special guest from Norway, Fredrik Siversen, left a special impression. He is Director of Strategy and Business Development at IKT Norge and an active participant in the field of sustainability and technological innovation. Syversen revealed important aspects of the Norwegian experience in the green transformation of the ICT sector, which added an international context to the discussion. In one of the panels, Ina Agafonova from DIGIHUB presented the business support network EEN. Prof. Sotir Sotirov made a presentation of the laboratory complex.

 

 

The evening after the first day of the conference was dedicated to a celebration on the occasion of the seventh birthday of ICT Cluster Burgas. The event brought together many members of the cluster as well as international guests from other European clusters. The atmosphere was truly festive with live music, an outstanding cake and a variety of refreshments. The mood was exciting and allowed everyone present to enjoy the moment, exchange ideas and create new partnerships.

 

 

The second day of the conference was also full of interesting moments and important discussions in which Prof. Dr. Georgi Angelov - Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth also took part. The chairman of ICT Cluster Burgas, Petko Georgiev, also took an active part in the panels. He emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between local authorities and the cluster, sharing information about ongoing joint projects. Regarding DIGIHUB, Mr. Georgiev presented the projects the hub is currently working on, including DBAN, EEN and METACITIES. In addition, he also revealed DIGIHUB's plans for the future as an accelerator of digital transformation in the region.

 

 

The last day of the conference was dedicated to practical visits and viewing of local innovation centers. The delegation led by Mr. Marek Prior, Team Leader Cluster Policy in the European Commission welcomed the Mayor of Burgas, Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, visited the two universities in Burgas and the headquarters of Digihub, located in the complex Central Park.

 

This moment was particularly significant as DIGIHUB is a key accelerator of digital transformation in the region. The visit to the new DIGIHUB office highlighted the organization's ambitions and plans for the future.

 

The Mayor of Burgas Municipality presented the potential and opportunities of the city to the international guests, and Mr. Marek Prior expressed readiness for future cooperation at the European level.

 

 

This conference was a real stage for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience between different stakeholders in the ICT sector. From the opening to the last session, every moment was valuable for the participants with many inspiring ideas, partnerships and opportunities for future projects.
